Perth’s tallest building has undergone a complete transformation of its lobby, services, and conference centre since it first opened in 1992. The changes have transformed the experience of visitors and tenants, offering contemporary workspaces and creating a vibrant hub in the heart of the CBD.

Central Park’s General Manager, Tim Ward, said the changes had been years in the planning and reflected the evolving needs and expectations of those working and living in the city.

“From the outset, we wanted to create something that was much more than a business destination. It had to offer spaces where people would choose to relax and enjoy their surroundings.”

Renowned global architecture firm, Woods Bagot, were appointed to lead the design transformation.

Lead Designer, Melanie Porrins said the design had to enhance one of the most distinctive and cherished buildings in the city and accommodate changes in the way people worked.

“The original lobby was grand, but quite austere and a bit dark, so we wanted to shift the focus towards the park. We lightened up the interior, making it fresh, sophisticated and creating something which was both a working space and a place for people to play.”

The new lobby and entry take full advantage of the precinct’s greenery and natural light to create a more airy, grand and elegant space.

But the changes are more than skin deep; they are designed to meet the shifting work/life needs of tenants.

A dedicated concierge is on hand to undertake daily errands, and a ‘coffee sommelier’ will help kickstart your day at the new café, Hemingway.

Dedicated business pods and meeting areas are perfect for informal meetings, presentations and small functions, and encourage collaboration and social catchups alike. For more formal gatherings, the transformed conference centre now provides tenants with state-of-the-art technology and other facilities.

Tim Ward believes the ground floor transformation has more than met the brief.

“We believe we have created the perfect work-life environment for our tenants.

“Nowhere else in the CBD will you find a location this central with parklands at the foot of your office, not to mention facilities like our conference and fitness centres, and end-of-trip services.

“From the start of your day to the end, for work and for play, we’ve considered how to make it better at every step. With the lines between work and life increasingly blurred, now more than ever we want our tenants to be able to find balance, and the new Central Park reflects that,” Ward said.

The new Central Park is now complete.
