EMPLOYEE PRODUCTIVITY: REVEALING THE TRUE IMPACT OF AN OFFICE ENVIRONMENT

While new ways of working will continue to emerge in 2021, businesses need to acknowledge the unique qualities that an office environment offers to enhance employee productivity.

Research from McCrindle[1] revealed that professional isolation, household distractions, poor home-to-office communication and self-motivation are among the top difficulties experienced by Australians who are working from home.

According to Central Park’s General Manager, Tim Ward, the key role of office environment has always focussed on alleviating the pressures placed on employees while working from home.

“We believe that the office can have an impact on efficiency, energy, collaboration and the overall quality of work produced by employees,” Tim said.

“By removing the burdens that are associated with remote working, such as poor internet connection and household distractions, office buildings provide the ultimate environment for employees to thrive in their creativity, innovation and focus.”

“Like all trends, office preferences will fluctuate and change with time. In the past year, we have seen a shift toward flexible work environments as a result of the pandemic, and before that, there was a movement from cubicles to open floorplans. Despite the trends, offices will continue to adapt to the changing needs of businesses and provide spaces that facilitate productivity.”

Central Park recently completed a significant $16 million refurbishment on its lobby and Conference Centre, emphasising its commitment to provide a vibrant business precinct with premium facilities for tenants and their employees to share, grow, focus, and unwind. The upgraded lobby features open business lounges, discrete pods and 52-seat café, creating a collaborative environment for informal meetings, catching up with colleagues or simply enjoying the view and a coffee while checking emails.

In addition to providing high quality spaces for everyday business and social activity, Central Park’s offices have been designed to maximise productivity, with features such as wireless phone charging stations throughout the lobby, online booking system for meeting rooms and updated AV systems in the Conference Centre helping to ensure workplace efficiency.
